Beschreibung

This course develops the English skills needed for effective communication in professional contexts. You will expand your vocabulary, improve your grammatical accuracy, and learn to express opinions, develop arguments, and discuss topics related to your chosen profession with greater fluency and confidence.

The course focuses on practical workplace communication, including participating in meetings and debates, understanding business-related texts and extended discussions, writing formal and informal emails, and preparing for job interviews. You will also practise presenting clear arguments, supporting your ideas with relevant examples, and responding appropriately in professional conversations.

In addition, the course strengthens your intercultural competence and helps you use language, formality, and communication conventions effectively in different professional situations.

Lernziele

After successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

- communicate clearly about their chosen profession, express viewpoints, and develop arguments using an appropriate range of language;
- use simple and some complex grammatical structures with generally good control;
- understand the main ideas of business-related texts and discussions, and support opinions with relevant explanations, arguments, and comments;
- write professional e-mails using appropriate formality and conventions;
- present, expand, and support clear arguments with relevant examples;
- interact with sufficient fluency and spontaneity to maintain professional communication;
- follow and respond to extended discourse and complex arguments on familiar topics when the structure is clearly signposted.

Language examination (Fremdsprachenprüfung)

Anwesenheitsregeln

Learning a foreign language is most successful when the language is put into practice. For this reason, there is an attendance requirement for this course of 75%.
